Maine saw its first snowfall of the season recently, and here at Sebago Brewing we think that’s something to celebrate. Luckily we have some new releases on draft and hitting store shelves in time for gathering with friends, be it watching games or over gourmet meals.
Demanding your taste buds’ attention is Barleywine 2016 (13% ABV 54.1 IBU). First Brewed in 2008 and aged in Bourbon Barrels for fourteen months, our American Barleywine ale comes but once a year and is always one of our most-anticipated releases. Barleywine will entice you with its rich color and stimulate your senses with its bold flavor and extraordinary aroma. It pairs well with rich, festive meals or serves as an excellent after dinner sipper. We’re putting it out in limited edition, shrink-wrapped two packs once again, which we’ve been told are a great gift to bring to holiday gatherings (if you can bear to part with them.) Find it on draft or in 12 oz. 2 pack cans at select locations throughout New England using our Beer Finder.
If you’re a DIPA drinker than get ready because Whistle Punk (8.2% ABV 92 IBU) is coming back. Our Whistle Punk Double IPA is big and juicy with an abundance of Simcoe, Amarillo, Citra and Mosaic hops. When we last had Whistle Punk on shelves, Gary Dzen of The Boston Globe included it in a DIPA round up, writing “This is a grapefruit bomb, in a good way, a total citrus bath that hides the bitterness and ABV well.” Look for it in 16 oz. 4 pack cans before it disappears again. You can find it at local stores using our Beer Finder.
If you’re local to one of our Brewpubs, you’ll want to stop by soon because Hop Swap (ABV 6.7%, IBU 88 and recently named Best Maine IPA of 2016) is on tap now. Each year since 2012, we’ve been switching up the hop varietals annually and this is the last time you’ll be able to get this beer using the 2016 recipe. Come in today to try it before it’s all gone. Learn more about this year’s edition here.
Plus, get ready for the return of a fan favorite: Boathouse Brown (4.2% ABV 24 IBU). The winner of our throwback election, Boathouse Brown is an easy-drinking American Brown Ale featuring a deep mahogany color, sweet malt and just a slight kick of hops. This is a very limited-edition batch, and will be available in brewpubs only. Ask your server or bartender to find out if it’s on tap yet.
Here’s to a hoppy holiday, cheers!
